  • Probate research

Researcher Mandy Blake is an experienced genealogist; she is a Member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), a Founding Member and Secretary of The Surname Society, and a Member of the Devon Family History Society. She has completed several genealogy-related short courses (from the University of Dundee, the NIGS, Pharos and FWL) and her professional development/study is ongoing. Amethyst Research can offer you family history research in England, Scotland and Wales, research at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, lost relative tracing and reunion, birth family tracing (at the request of the adopted person only), and probate research.  Mandy is also an adoptee who has traced her birth family, so has plenty of experience in the emotional journey involved in people-tracing.

Although we are a business, we have kept that all-important personal touch and care about our clients, even keeping in touch with some of the people we have reunited in the past.  We are committed to providing a professional service and the best value for money. We do our very best to keep clients' costs to a minimum and during person searches, the purchase of certificates will only be made where absolutely necessary to confirm vital details.

Being a business also works to the client's advantage; we are compulsorily registered with the Information Commissioner's Office which means that we follow the strict rules of the Data Protection Act regarding client confidentiality.  This is very important here at Amethyst Research and we give you a 100% guarantee that none of our clients' details or information researched will ever be shared with a third party.

If you are carrying out your own research but cannot visit the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre in person, then we can help; you will find our rates extremely competitive.  The History Centre holds a vast number of documents and an index to these can be found via the 'Discovery' search facility on The National Archives' website.

Please click on 'Services and Costs' from the menu above to see full details of the packages we provide, but we will be very happy to tailor a package to meet your needs.  Please email us via the 'Contact Us' page, or complete the relevant details on the 'Forms' page, and we will discuss an individual quote with you.
